Queen Anne House

Lavender House in the Day.

Lavender House at Night

Starting in the attic, there is a painters studio,

where the turret serves as a light room for painting.

Along the corridor is a sewing room and

the painters store room. Most of the works stored are Gek's "master pieces" with some of the miniature art collected on our travels.

Down the stairs to the first floor is the Chinoiserie Room furnished with hand made and painted pieces from China.

The master bedroom furnish with pieces done by Jane Newman.

The second bedroom with Queen Anne furniture.

The bathroom.

Down the spiral stairs to the ground floor,

to the reception.

Dining area.

Kitchen. Table, dresser and sink unit by Jane Newman.

Rhode Island Progress

From Norman's book, through the chaos

to four mates waiting to be clothed.

The beginning.

Just the cushion and the back embroidery to do.

Still need to improve the upholstery to match the quality of the embroidery piece done by Gek as a nod to

the embroidery on the  late 16th century chair.

Gek's Mini Gallery

Atop the Queen Anne stairs.  The idea is to replicate Gek's painting kit in miniature,

in an attic studio. Now need the bits and pieces, tubes of paint, bottle of white spirit, etc. That will take some time to source.

Rhode Island Easy Chair

This is the  chair pictured in Norman's book. The chair was made in c. 1758 and is currently in the Metropolitan Museum of Art,  New York, USA

Use jig to form the front legs.

After fretting the back legs using scaled templates, us jig to machine the slots form cross member joints.

Similar techniques used as in the Boston chair to create the frame.

Big difference, of course, this beauty needs to be upholstered.  First attempt, after much humming and awing.

The second crack at it. Better but with room for much improvement. Well, at least the chair looks 'in scale'.  Did wonder as it was being put together.  Looked a bit on the big side, it did.
